Supported operating systems and browsers - NHS App help

We want as many people as possible to be able to use the NHS App. When we support an operating system or browser, that means we make sure the NHS App works correctly and you can use all the features as intended.

Supported operating systems

We choose which operating systems we support based on security and how many people use them.

We currently support the NHS App on:

  • Apple iOS version 15 and above
  • Android version 8 and above

This will soon change to iOS 16 and Android 10.

How to update your operating system

If your device is running on an older operating system, you'll need to update it to use the NHS App. Find out:

Supported browsers

You may need to update your web browser to the latest version to use the NHS App. We support the most commonly used versions of the following browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Android WebView
  • Safari

If you cannot use the NHS App on your device

You can still manage your healthcare online by logging in on the NHS website.

On a phone or tablet with the NHS App installed, logging in on the NHS website will automatically open the app. If you do not want this to happen, you'll need to uninstall the NHS App first.
